Videos: 

Watched a short homemade lava lamp experimental video pertaining to this week’s science lab theme. Students can try to make the lava lamps at home with parental help!

Group activities and getting to know one another:

Drawing faces – Passing papers with names written on it so everyone can draw one facial feature of everyone’s face.

Time Capsule – Everyone brought in one item for the time capsule. Students loved  it and the capsule will be open at the end of the year!

Two truths and a lie – A student will tell two truths and one lie about their life and the other students will guess. Uses critical thinking and you get to know the students.

Hot seat – Student uses the help of her classmates to guess the object written behind them

Hangman – End of class fun game everyone loves

Going over the textbooks – went over the rules of the class for next week and had a sneak peak of the content.

Poster – Finished the poster! Absent students need to add their bear and photo then the poster will be hung  on the school wall!

13.9.

Homework due + day, date: Have the students bring  in an item for time capsule. A small toy or note to future self. Bring in on Monday, 18.9.

Getting to Know One Another: We played interactive games to get to know each other.

  • Two truths, one lie: this game reveals facts about our classmates while detecting what they are lying about. Promotes listening and critical thinking.
  • Drawing faces: – write your name, pass papers to the left, ask someone to pick a facial feature, draw that part of the face on the paper. Promotes memory of name to face and creativity.

Time Capsule: Everyone was asked to bring in an object or letter to future self. When presenting these items, the students were  asked to describe why the items were important to them and to tell the class.

Group posters: Half-way finished!

 

11.9.

Homework: Due 13.9. Students bring in an item for our Class Time Capsule.

Portfolio: Students received their new portfolios and decorated their covers.

Class Rules: As a class we reviewed the rules of behavior the students will follow this year.

Getting to know one another: We played interactive games to get to know each other.

  • My life in 5 sentences: Students write down 5 sentences of exciting events in their life in the incorrect sequence and have other students guess the correct order.
  • Hot-seat: Students sit with their back to the board. A word is written on the board (fruit, animal, etc.) and the other students describe the word while the one in the ‘hot seat’ has to guess. 

Group poster: We started to create our new group mascot poster and learned about the Polar Bears.
