After the test, we played a fun and interactive „Beat the Maze“ game focused on time vocabulary. Students had to answer multiple-choice and open-ended questions about months, seasons, dates, daily routine, etc., to successfully exit the maze.We also practiced some English tongue twisters:

Today we had a special story lesson on The Smeds and the Smoos by Julia Donaldson. This book is about two groups of aliens, the red Smeds and the blue Smoos. It explores themes of prejudice, breaking down barriers, appreciating differences, and friendship.
Students predicted what would happen, listened to the story, and retold it in their own words. We also discussed these questions: Which part do you like? Is it okay to say “we don’t talk to them”? Who is right: the grandparents or the children? What happens when the grandparents visit different planets? What can we learn from this story? In what ways can people be different than us?
Finally, students wrote and drew pictures of their favourite part.

Rules: We talked about the Class Rules and signed our group poster. Students earn points based on the following criteria:

When students earn 30 points, their eggs will hatch! As the year progresses, there will be more goals and rewards.
Game: „Fruitbasket Turnover.“ We talked about the summer and reviewed the Past Tense with a game. One person stood in the middle of a circle while everyone else sat in a chair. The person in the middle said something about their summer, i.e. „I swam in the pool. I ate sushi. I flew on an airplane.“) If you also did that during the summer, you had to get up and find a new chair to sit in (and the person standing in the middle tried to find a chair, too!)

Time Capsules: Students filled out Time Capsule worksheets with information about themselves (i.e. I’m wearing… I’m ____ meters tall. My favourite subject is…This year I plan to…) They will receive these in our last lesson together in June so they can reflect on the year and see if anything has changed!
