Homework: AB63/4&5

Extra credit: Students can bring in a mystery item to smell, touch, taste, feel, or hear.

Summary: We continued our unit focused on the senses (sight, hearing, touch, smell, and taste). We discussed our favorite and least favorite things to hear and why.

How can we hear?: Students watched a video on how sound travels. We learned how sound waves travel through vibrations, and what makes sounds higher or lower. We also learned that sound cannot travel through space because there’s no air!

Homework: AB54/1-2 & AB55/2-3

Extra credit: Students can bring in a recipe in English to share with the class. Be sure it includes the ingredients, the steps for how to make it, and a photo or drawing of the meal. See PB57/3 for an example. This is an optional assignment for fun.

Summary: We continued our unit focused on the senses (sight, hearing, touch, smell, and taste).

Pizza: Students designed their own pizza with their favourite ingredients. This was a fun way to practice our new vocabulary (dough, thick crust and thin crust, oven, herbs like basil, thyme, and rosemary, etc)

Rorschach test: Each student created a rorschach ink blot test, and we all discussed what it looked like. Look at our rorschach tests. What do they look like to you?

Homework: AB54/1-3

Test: Today students were given back their tests on units 3, 4, & 5.

Summary: We started a new unit focused on the senses (sight, hearing, touch, smell, and taste). We discussed what parts of our bodies we use to experience these senses, and what items we like or dislike to smell, taste, touch, hear, or see.

Senses: Students were given a variety of items to smell, taste, touch, hear, and see.  This was a great way to practice our new grammar. “What does it taste like? It tastes salty.”

Hearing: Students made different sounds, and we tried to guess what it was. “What does it sounds like? It sounds like a monkey.”

Sight: Each student created a rorschach ink blot test, and we all discussed what it looked like. Look at our rorschach tests. What do they look like to you?
