Homework: AB26/1-4 & study 

Test: units 0-2 on November 20th 

Summary: The students reviewed past tense verbs, telling time, making predictions and plans for the future (“going to”), jobs, and adjectives to prepare for their first test scheduled for next week. Please encourage your child to review and study at home to help prepare them. The test will be a review for units 0-2.

Creative Writing: Students worked together to write a short story using the phrase “going to” to make predictions about what will happen next in the story. 

Game: Students played a speed recognition game for jobs, and a speed writing game for telling time. We focused on using phrases like, “quarter to five, half past six, twenty-five to ten, etc.”

We also played a board game to further practice telling time and using the phrase “going to.”

Discussion: Students discussed their future career plans and explained why they would want to do a specific job. 

Game: Students played twenty questions to guess different jobs, and also played a speed recognition game for different job titles.

Discussion: We played “rose, thorn, bud.” Students were paired with a friend and were instructed to tell their friend one good or bad thing, or something they were going to do in the future. 

Game: We played Halloween bingo today.

Summary: Today we focused on plans, intentions and predictions using the phrase “going to.” This was good practice for talking about the future. 

Discussion: We played “rose, thorn, bud.” Students were paired with a friend and were instructed to tell their friend one good or bad thing, or something they were going to do in the future. 

Game: We played Taboo today. This is a great way to review and practice vocabulary and grammar.

Summary: Today we read how documentaries are made, and the differences between the practices in the past and the present. This was a perfect way to practice comparing and contrasting things with present and past tense verbs. 

Survey: Students wrote about a show or movie they watched last night or last weekend. They used adjectives to describe the episode or movie, and how it made them feel. 

Creative Writing: Students pretended to write for a TV program (the news, sports, a documentary, etc), and then presented what they wrote. This was great practice for using the unit vocabulary in context and past tense verbs.

Summary: Today we reviewed past tense verbs, sang a rock song about time, and practiced our new vocabulary. We also practiced listening for the difference in the sounds between ch and sh words like choose and shoes, chair and share, and cheap and sheep. 

Game: We played taboo today to practice our new vocabulary on TV programs (comedy, documentary, weather, etc).

Song: We sang a rock inspired song to practice our new vocabulary and telling time.

Song: We sang a rock inspired song to practice our new vocabulary and telling time. The students really got into karaoke! 

Game: We played charades and taboo today to practice our new vocabulary on TV programs (comedy, documentary, weather, etc).
