Homework: due 21.9. Workbook Page 4, Exercises 1, 2 and Page 5, Exercises 1, 2 (Exercise 3 optional)

Warm Up: We talked about what we did this weekend and this summer. First in pairs and then shared as a class.

Bookwork: We started our Super Minds 5 textbook and did pages 4 and 5. This first unit’s theme is science. We introduced 10 new vocabulary words shown below, learned how to pronounce them, and asked questions about the words to check our understanding.

Unit Vocabulary: goggles, shelf, apron, explosion, bubbles, liquid, instructions, test tube, powder, gloves

Games: We introduced „2 Truths and a Lie“. In this game, you write 3 sentences about yourself, for example: „I am American. I speak French. I have 2 cats“. Two of the sentences are true, one is a lie. Everyone else must guess which sentence they think is the lie. And then you tell them if they are right or not.

We also played a quick game of Stand Up If at the end of class and students had the chance to lead.

Class Poster: We finished decorating our grizzly bears, then glued them and our photos on the poster and wrote our names. We added a few drawings to the poster giving it more depth, color, and personality. There are bears living in the cave, on the mountain, and next to the lake.

Class Dojo: Student earned points for answers questions while going through the textbook.

Reminder : Bring your Super Minds books next class because we will start using them!

Class Poster : We started decorating the class poster. It’s looking good with a mountain, cave, a lake, and trees. Perfect for a grizzly bear. We also colored in our own grizzly bears.

My favorites sheet + Game: We completed a „my favorites“ worksheet to learn more about the students‘ favorite foods, animals, music, and more. We then played a circle game asking each other about our favorite things.

Class Dojo: The class did a great job today and students earned Class Dojo points.

Routines: We reviewed our quiet signal (clapping) and the Class Rules we made last time in a few classes‘ we will all sign the Class Rules agreement together.

~ Happy first day of classes ~

Introduction: We learned students’ names by writing them on our portfolios and having each student say their name. We also practiced our names in the „This or That“ game.

Portfolio: We wrote our names and class mascot (grizzly bear) and decorated our portfolios.

Class Dojo: We learned the rewards system, how to earn points, and were awarded points. The whole class earned points for listening, helping each other, and speaking English.

Class Rules: We decided as a class on the rules we want to follow to make class fun and safe for everyone.

Textbooks: We briefly introduced the new Super Minds textbooks.

Games: We learned and played “This or That”, “Stand up if…”, and, “Hangman”. In „This or That“, a student throws a ball to another student and asks a question like „Cat or Dog“. The receiving student answers and then asks another student a this or that question.

Class Mascot: We introduced our class mascot: the Grizzly Bears! Watched a video of a grizzly bear.
