Portfolio: We talked about jobs our parents or grandparents do. We also talked about jobs that we think robots/AI will do in the future. In our books we made two columns, jobs for robots and jobs for humans. We did this to introduce the new unit 8!

SB 94: Went through new words and did activity 1 and 2.

Spelling bee: Did a spelling bee with the new words

Video: We watched a video on robots taking jobs and talked about if we would for example go to a restaurant where the chefs were robots, or a robot doctor.

SB 95: Introduced new grammar, first conditional. Then did activity 1 and 2.

Practice: We made practice sentences with each other.

Portfolio: We started with speaking cards here. Students wrote the missing words in their portfolio.

Review: We went over both new grammar points with a speaking/discussion activity. Followed by and acting activity.

SB 86: We read the story aloud together and did activities 1-4. Then we talked about Shakespeare and old theaters versus newness, using the new vocabulary.

WB 86: We did activities 1 and 2 in pairs.

Final review activity: We did a present perfect review on bamboozle!

portfolio: I had students teach me then new grammar and tell me 2 sentences using will, 2 sentences using won’t.

SB 83: grammar re-introduction with activities 1 and 2, and the video! Talked about what we will do this weekend using the new grammar.

WB 83: activity 2 and 3

Baamboozle: We did this bamboozle as separates, to review.

SB 85 + WB 85: We lightly began the secondary grammar. Introducing just + present perfect. Did an acting activity to create sentences. Someone would act out an action and another student would say ‚she just dropped her pencil case‘.

Homework WB 82 due Monday

Students who missed the test Monday took the test today. Students who took the test Monday did an activity about the new unit.

Introduced new unit. We went through the new vocabulary and we talked about William Shakespeare. We went into detail about Romeo and Juliet. Students told me the story and explained the concepts and themes in the story.

SB 82: went through new words and did activity 1 and 2 listening.

Cowboy standoff: Using the new words and the last units vocabulary we played cowboy standoff.

Spelling Bee: We did a spelling bee with word from the past units as well as the new words from today.

TEST MONDAY

Portfolio: We did a Scattegories-like game where we wrote letters A-Z and had to think of a country name for each one. Then we watched a video and students with more unique countries got more points. Went over new country names and continents.

Baamboozle: We did a bamboozle to introduce the new flags.

SB 76: We talked about where things are made and how to find the countries. Did activity 1 solo and the rest of the page together. Then as pairs students found things around the classroom and guessed where they were made.

WB: Activity 1 and 2. Talked about souvenirs we buy when we are on holiday and how much things cost.

Kahoot: We did a countries and flags Kahoot.

Vocab review: Spelling blocks to practice spelling.

Introductory game: We played a bit of cityguessr to introduce the reading for today. Talking about how we move around a city when we are visiting, what to look for, etc.

SB 74 and 75: We began the story with the activity 1. Then as a class we read the story together with the ‚pop‘ method. Then we talked about what happened in the story, about what we would do if we were in that situation.

WB 74: In group pairs we did activity 1 and 3 on page 74. Then we went through them together as a group.

Review: We played this game which reviewed the story, the vocab, and the grammar!

9.3. YLE exams

Dnes nám Miss Lenka představila cambridgeské zkoušky YLE Flyers, které je možné skládat na naší škole. Dozvěděli jsme se, co zkouška obsahuje, jaké má části a podívali jsme se i na certifikát, který po složení zkoušky získáme.

Ke zkoušce je doporučený přípravný kurz, 6 lekcí probíhajících v dubnu a květnu. Zkoušku pak budou žáci skládat 5. června zde ve škole. Na kurz i na zkoušku je možné se ještě tento týden přihlásit u paní ředitelky Barešové.

Portfolio: What we should and shouldn’t do at home. Example: I shouldn’t steal from my sister, I should tidy my room.

SB 73: We reviewed this page for the students who missed it. We talked about when to use Could you and Do you mind if… We did lots of review and conversation on this subject.

Review: as a class we did this review activity.

WB 73: In pairs students did activity 2 and 3 , unscrambling and ordering the sentences.

Activity: In groups the students made a dialogue that took place in their favorite store. One student was the customer and the other was the attendee. There were instructed to use the new grammar at least 3 times. After they were finished they performed it for the class!
