Portfolio: We started by talking about the Prague zoo and giving advice about going there. Students wrote two pieces of advice using should and shouldn’t.

Sb: 72: We did activity 1,2, and 3. Starting with partners we read the dialogue and we talked about what souvenirs we buy for friends and family when we are on holiday. After we made our own dialogues about gifts and traveling.

WB 72: We did activity 2 as a group for sentence creation.

Discussion: We started taking about could vs should. The students made sentences about what they could do vs what they should do.

SB 73: We did activity 1 and 2, also watched the video. We lightly touched on the new grammar

Homework WB 70 due next Monday !

Portfolio: We began class with a game of city guesser. To introduce our new unit about traveling and souvenirs.

SB 70: We read about Istanbul and went through the new words. We talked about souvenirs from Prague, what are scams and what they would recommend tourist to buy. We also did activity 2 listening.

Discussion: Talked about where we have travelled, what souvenirs we bought, what we brought on our trips and what we recommend people to do in those cities!

Spelling bee: We did a spelling be with the words from the last 3 units as well as the newest unit words.

Wordwall: We played this word wall and tried to get on the leaderboard.

Vocabulary game: We separated into teams and did the rock paper scissors vocab review.

Portfolio: We did possessive apostrophe review via word wall, all 10 in the portfolio.

Moving activity: I had students stand up and touch something made of…, touch something used for… around the classroom, then the students were the teacher and told me and others what to touch. Example: touch something made of plastic, touch something used for reading.

Vocabulary review: In pairs students did a word search/crossword with the vocabulary words. The first pair finished got to pick the video at break and students helped each other find the words

Mafia: We did one game of Mafia because both classes were mixed today and the students behaved super well!

Portfolio: I had the students think of their favorite item or toy, and write two sentences about it (what’s it used for and what it’s made of) as well as draw it. Then the students read their sentences outlaid and other students guessed the item.

Review: Since we had a mixed class we did a vocabulary review to ensure everyone was up to date on the grammar

SB 62: We listened to the story, and did activities 1-4. Talked about the story and went over words we didn’t know.

WB 62: We did activities 1-3 in partners

Whisper game: As a vocabulary review we played whisper, age where there are two teams lined up to the back of the classroom. I gave each team a vocabulary word which they whispered down the line of their classmates to the final person who ran and hit the corresponding vocabulary photo.

We reviewed last week’s homework, going over and checking the answers.

We warmed up with a game of scattegories in teams on Bamboozle.

We reviewed the unit 5 vocabulary with the unit flashcards and a game of Around the World.

We reviewed the unit grammar points ‚It’s made of‘, and ‚It’s used for‘, by doing a fill in the blanks exercise.

Test! Today we took the unit 4 test

Portfolio: After the test we introduced unit 5. Starting this this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JeamQF4qRxY&themeRefresh=1 students wrote as many words as they can recognize.

SB 52: We began by going through the new unit words, the small reading and the activities.

Review game: We played this bamboozle which has a mix of the new unit words, old words, and some words they may not know yet. We did this as a class to practice and to introduce the Wild West.

TEST NEXT MONDAY

Portfolio: We began the class with activity 1 of this worksheet for ordinal number practice.

Grammar review: Using the zero conditional, we made truthful sentences and fake ones. Example: If you are hungry, you eat food, If you touch fire, its cold.

Video: I began the class with this video from Willy Wonka to introduce what we were doing this class. We talked about the film, as well as about what candy and chocolate we enjoy.

SB 52: In the student book we did activities on this page, talking about how chocolate was made, where it comes from, etc. After doing these activities we talked about the process of making chocolate with the zero conditional (our new grammar). We also went over the meanings of all the new words, or words they didn’t know. There was lots of discussion and preparation for the upcoming test.

Spelling Tiles: With the spelling tiles and flash cards we went over our vocabulary, as well as vocabulary from the past units. Students split into groups and we had a little competition.

Kahoot: We did a Kahoot with the grammar. Instead of using phones we made each corner a color and students moved throughout the classroom to make their answers.

Portfolio: We started with this wordwall to go over the grammar from last week. For students missing last week we began to reteach the grammar with these sentences and on the board. Students gave examples.

Worksheet: After re-teaching we did this worksheet together to make sure we understood

SB 50: After grammar we did the reading in the book. We did popcorn reading and did activities 1-4. We talked about the story and went through and circled any words we didn’t know and talked about them.

WB 50: WE did activity 1 and 3 in the book.

Portfolio: We went over ordinal number spelling and dates.

SB 49: We began the second part of the grammar, zero conditional. Starting with activity 1, students did the whole page together. Then on the board I taught how the zero conditional works. Then each student began to make sentences and we went through tense changes.

Wordwall: We reviewed the new grammar with this unscrambling.

WB 49: We did activities 1 and 2 solo, then the third as a class.
